Everything went according to the plan and Cracovia won the quarterfinal series against Naprzód Janów in three games. Naprzód, the underdogs in this clash, fought bravely, but caused serious problems only in the second game, which went into the overtime. Now Cracovia hockey team is preparing for the semifinal against Podhale Nowy Targ. The matches between these teams are the classics of our league.

Cracovia, as the winner of the regular season, was the favorite of the best-of-five series against Naprzód Janów. The team from Janów, which is a part of Katowice, finished the season eight and was happy enough to have avoided relegation play-off. In the first game, played in Kraków, it was Naprzód who surprisingly took the lead after Pohl’s power-play goal in 2nd minute. Pasy equalized in 13th minute during 5-on-3 powerplay, and when Cerny scored Cracovia’s second goal just two minutes later, it seemed, that Pasy were on the road to an easy win. To our surprise Janów did not give up and equalized within just a minute. The first period was tied, but that was it for Naprzód on that day. In 30th minute Piotrowski scored a nice goal from the blue line, and in 33rd minute Pasy scored a masterpiece shorthanded goal after Laszkiewicz and Hartmann duo lethal counter attack. Three minutes after this blow Csorich scored Cracovia’s fifth goal and the game was practically over. Three more goals scored in the last period brought the tally up to eight, leaving Janów with two only. The first clash was easily won by Pasy.

Yet if anyone expected an easy second game in Janów, he must have been disappointed, as Naprzód played really good game, and their goalie Zając had a fantastic game. Cracovia was leading 2-0, but Naprzód managed to equalize. Prokop’s goal in 44th minute brought again the lead to Pasy, but Koszowski equalized 10 minutes before the full-time, and the game went into the overtime. When it looked like penalties Laszkiewicz scored the winning goal just 10 seconds before the end! After two games Pasy were leading 2-0 and could relax before the third game, played two weeks later, due to a break for Euro Ice Hockey Challenge. After this break Naprzód came to Kraków to play the third, and, as occurred, the last game of the series. When Hartmann scored after just 47 seconds and later Janów was extremely lucky not to concede more, it was clear that the Silesian team had resigned to the fate. In 9th minute Dulęba doubled Cracovia’s tally and in 11th minute Pohl scored a contact goal for Janów, but Prokop’s double salvo gave Pasy a comfortable 4-1 at the end of the first period. Two minutes into the second period Mleko scored the second goal for Silesians, but later Laszkiewicz, Pinc and Dulęba scored goals, which left no doubt which team was the better one. In the third period, when Pasiut scored twice, the fans were hoping for a double-digit tally, but the last goal was scored by Janów. The final result was 9-3 and Cracovia won the series 3-0. In the semifinal we will face Podhale Nowy Targ, who easily beat Zagłębie Sosnowiec, also in three straight games.

The football team is preparing for the new season and some friendlies were played. Before leaving for a preparation camp in Cyprus, Pasy won test-matches against second-league team Kmita Zabierzów (2:0), Okocimski Brzesko from the third division (2:1) and a Czech second-league club FC Hlucin (4:2). On Cyprus Pasy faced Romanian FC Arges (1:1), 4th team of the Czech top league Mlada Boleslav (0:0) and 3rd team of Bulgarian top division Lokomotiv Sofia (4:1).
