After having lost the sixth game in Nowy Targ Cracovia hoped to beat Podhale in the decisive game of the semi-final played at home. Unfortunately, despite 2:0 lead and a tremendous atmosphere created by the fans, Pasy lost the game after the penalty shootout. This means, that we will fight for bronze medal against Sztoczniowiec Gdańsk.

The sixth game ended with a truly football-like result. Podhale scored the only goal of the game in 3rd minute, and later none of the teams was able to score. The semi-final was to be decided in the seventh game. The decisive game began well for Pasy. First Pasiut’s thunder-strike hit the post. Later Cracovia created more chances than the rivals. And finally in 16th minute Leszek Laszkiewicz played the puck from behind the goal to his brother Daniel, who scored the opener with a shot into the top-right corner. Three minutes later the Laszkiewicz duo scored again: Leszek’s shot was saved by Rajski, but then Daniel got the puck and had no problems with doubling his tally. The hockey-arena exploded with delight and enthusiasm.

Yet the joy was premature. Although Pasy should have scored the third goal in the second period, Rajski proved to be unbeatable in this part of the game. And in 28th minute Zamojski intercepted the puck after Dulęba’s disastrous pass, moved it to Bakarlik, who easily scored in one-on-one situation. This was a breakthrough goal for Podhale, who started to believe, that they could win this game. And just a minute before the end of the second period Różański equalized with a power-play goal. The clash began anew.

The third period was a genuine show, but these were the fans who shined, not the players. Fantastic non-stop doping rocked the arena and made our team attack, but without results. The third period was goalless, and so was the extra-time, despite Cracovia’s doubtless domination in the last part of the game. The semi-final was to be decided in the penalty-shootout. After two goalless series it was Cracovia’s Hartmann, who scored the first penalty, but later his colleagues failed to score, while Sroka and Różański scored for Podhale and the game was over. After seven games and a thrilling penalty-shootout Podhale made it to the final, where they will meet GKS Tychy, while Pasy will face Stoczniowiec Gdańsk in the bronze-medal clash.

In the meantime our football team played two games. First in the Ekstraklasa Cup Cracovia faced Widzew Łódź. Both coaches named their second-choice players, so we could see reserve squads on the field. And Cracovia’s reserve team, made up with some youngsters, but also some experienced players, lost the game in a compromising style. Widzew had roughly three chances in the first half, and scored three goals, mainly thanks to Cracovia’s defense passiveness. Pasy had only one chance, but Dudzic missed the goal from some 6 meters. The second half was ultimately boring, as Widzew was satisfied with the result and Pasy were unable to create any chances, only Bania’s header after Heidemann’s high ball hit the bar. In 79th minute Sokalski scored the fourth goal for Widzew after a quick counter-attack. This was an absolutely embarrassing performance by our team.

The chance to rehabilitate came on Saturday as Pasy went to Wodzisław to face Odra in the league game. This time Cracovia played almost with the strongest line-up. In 6th minute Moskała passed the ball to Giza, who scored with a left-foot drive from 16 meters. After some 15 minutes of Cracovia’s domination Odra started creating some chances, but Cabaj performed well and coolly saved all the shots. The second half began with Odra’s domination, but again Cabaj was unbeatable. The save of the day came when he kept Iwan’s and Wróbel’s double salvo. Later Pasy had two chances to double their lead, but this time Odra’s goalkeeper Pilarz showed very good skills, as he saved Giza’s and Pawlusiński’s powerful strikes. At the end of the day Giza’s goal proved to be the only one of the game, and our midfielder together with both goalkeepers was among the best players on the pitch.

The clash with Stoczniowiec begins on Tuesday, while on Wednesday Pasy go to Radom to play Polish-Cup semi-final’s first leg against Radomiak. The next league game is against Zaglebie Lubin on Saturday at home.
