New season, new hopes. And a defeat for the beginning.
Each season means new hopes. This year it happened that Cracovia played her first game against Legia in Warszawa, as it was year ago. As always we hoped for a good result, but since the return to the top division Pasy never won a single point against Legia on an away game. This year was no different…
The big news before the game was that Piotr Giza was loaned out from Cracovia to… Legia. The creative midfielder was not considered a key player by coach Majewski therefore Cracovia decided to loan him to Warszawa. Giza did not play in the game, but nevertheless Legia dominated in the first half. Good pressing, smart passes and Cracovia’s passive defense allowed Legia to create many chances, luckily for Pasy Cabaj saved many shots. He could not keep only one shot, by Chinyama in 35th minute. The first half was a very poor performance by Cracovia, things however changed after the half time. It occurred that Cracovia are more fit and better prepared for the season than their rivals. Pasy controlled the game and pushed Legia hard, unfortunately Cracovia did not create any good chance, Legia’s goalie Mucha was troubled only by long shots by Baran and Pawlusiński’s and Bojarski’s free-kicks. Despite being clearly better team in the second half, Pasy did not equalize and lost the season’s opening game. Cracovia fans must hope that such a poor performance as in the first half will not be seen, while Pasy will play in the style that allowed us to watch the second half with some pleasure. Now Cracovia will face three teams newly promoted from the second division, first of them being Ruch Chorzów, which will face Pasy on August 4th, in Kraków.
